So the last 2-3 weeks have been busy, but for different reasons then usual...we're sick...it all started with my flu shot, the week before Halloween. About 1-2 days later I had a terrible cough & sore throat, that lead to 4 sub days for my poor students & 4 early night to bed for me. Logan almost immediately got the cough too. Today we are both about 90% rid of the cough. Drake had the cough for about 2-3 days & a snotty nose for a week. Deric got the sore throat and cough a few days ago, but seems better off then we were!
Mom came down to visit, trick-o-treat & celebrate what would've been their 39th wedding anniversary, in the middle of sicky time & we still manage a bit of fun. We had a great lunch & play time at Chuck-e-cheese, trick-0-treated, passed out candy, went to church, ate at Islands, went to book store & toasted the anniversary at CPK--which dad loved & split his fave-keylime pie, in his honor!
Last weekend, we enjoyed our first family trip to the Rancho Los Alamitos Historic Ranch & Gardens. The ranch animal's area is under construction, but the gardens were peaceful, beautiful, calming & healing. Just the essence of the place made me feel near to my dad! Many religous statues within the garden, made me want to bring my mom there, too. That night d & I went to church and left Logi with daddy, already asleep for the night. It amazes me how much Drake loves church! Also amazing that I have rarely gotten through a service in last months without tearing or sobbing, as I feel my dad's presense around me. THe next morning Deric & Drake went for a holiday adventure at DL, with Drake's first ride on the matterhorn! That afternoon, I took Drake to join his preschool buds at a princess party. Deric & I went out to a brief dinner date on Sunday night!
Logi now weighs 20 lbs & 13 oz & is 29.5 inches tall & wears size 12 month clothes. He has just cut his 5th tooth. Drake only had 2 teeth at this age. Drakey's at our neighbor, Seth's bady party without us now, as Logi-Bear has to still stay away from groups of kids still! Drake's most recent loves are: writing his full name, opposites puzzle, the mummy book, Madegascar's Zebra, "Marty", Monsters Inc, playing with his stuffed animals & playing make-believe with his VERY wild imagination! He doesn't know tomorrow he's going to lunch at Rainforest Cafe(with Emma)!
Next up: We gotta get ready for Deric's 34th bday, next Monday, Turkey Day in Napa, Logi's 1st bday & 2 celebrations & then all the Xmas hoopla! Us 4 are off to San Diego for a 2 day adventure for Christmas!
Oct. 9-13, was a busy, but great weekend with Grandma visiting us, in LB! We visited the pumpkin patch & got 4 pumpkins of all sizes & d enjoyed the rides, especially the huge inflatable slide! The next morning was the 1st annual LB ALS Walk! We were joined by many close friends, both big & small( we were team w/ most strollers!) and mom & my bro-in-law to represent family! It was of course an emotional day, as a day hasn't gone by without missing dad in the last 4 months, but a good one--for a great cause! The following day we took mom to DL & had a blast...our 1st time at Halloween time- cool decorations! We are gearing up to see mom again in a few days, to celebrate my parents 39th wedding anniversary & of course trick-o-treat together! The next 2 months are expected to be a whirlwind with Deric's bday, Turkey Day, Logan's 1st bday, & Xmas!
Drake LOVES school even more, now that he is in the BIG KID room! He improves on writing his name daily, is a great cutter and gluer, and is much better at not scribble scrabbling his coloring. He know ALL his letter sounds and half the letter names. Drake loves to practice school with mommy at home too! Last Friday he took his school pics...so I will be posting those in a few weeks!
